Sophie Mackintosh always astounds with her curiosity around crazy societal norms. In Permanence, a pair of lovers Francis and Clare, long to be together instead of stuck in their current situations. While in a tryst, they wakeup together in an odd apartment in a different city. It seems as though they’ve been transported from their ordinary lives to a place where adulterers can live openly. Is it a paradise or something more sinister? While this city seems wonderful and charming, can their unsecret affair end happily ever after? Can you build a fulfilling with your sweet obsession or is it just hanging from a thread? What will survive? Is it Desire, love, patience or forgiveness that survive? As usual, Sophie Mackintosh continues to deliver compelling storylines that keep you guessing until the end.

This should be on your summer reading list for 2026.
