Book 3 in the Accidentally Infamous series by Pippa Grant gives us Mabel Sinclair’s story. She’s one of the founders of Infamous Winery, which takes in internet-famous viral refugees so they can rest and recover out of the spotlight. We learn that Mabel didn’t go viral as much as her jealous ex doxxed her, forcing her to retreat to family (Aunt Pip) for safety’s sake. She found her “Aunt Pip” owned a winery that was going under and helped restore it, along with the dozens of women they took in to help them escape the harsh reality of the world: viral doxxers, internet trolls, and the like. Her sworn enemy, Tennessee Rhodes, is the brother of her best friend- whom she saved and whose story is highlighted in While You Were Trending. A man of means, he shows up unannounced and says he’s being stalked. Mabel has every right to doubt him, as Ten hasn’t always had the most upstanding character or made the best decisions, especially when it comes to Mabel. Ten is almost a loathsome character- he’s whiny, he’s pretentious, he’s cutting- but there’s a reason behind the façade. As they grow closer because the winery grounds are too small and Ten is camping in her living room, sparks start to fly. Can Mabel trust Ten when she never has? And can Ten, a gorgeous manchild, grow up enough to deserve Mabel?
I urge you to start this series from the beginning so that you’ll know the characters. Otherwise, it’s easy to get lost in the fray and cross-chatter.
