the thoroughbreds- elin hilderbrand and shelby cunningham

published 9/15/26

I was devastated when Elin Hilderbrand announced her retirement until she coauthored a series with her daughter centered around an elite New England boarding school. Tiffin Academy is one of the most elite high schools in the nation, but prestige doesn’t change the basic high school experience. In The Thoroughbreds (their mascot), life revolves around a series of students and administrators, broken down by month. The storylines are incredible and this year, secrets and division look to hold back an otherwise stellar senior class. College applications, sports teams’ expectations and more than one scandal involving social status threatens the seniors. There are rumors everywhere, the insidious world of social media, and questions afoot with very little answers. Book Two delivers as an enriching an experience as the first in the series and continues the twisty, cruel world of growing up.

I strongly suggest that you read book one- The Academy, prior to this novel. Otherwise, these characters will not make as much sense to a casual reader and some storylines will fall flat. As a reader of that one, I can promise you’ll absolutely adore it.

Thank you to Little, Brown and Company for allowing me the generous opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
