I love when Mary Kay Andrews releases a book because you know it’s going to be good. Road Trip is no exception but is a small departure from her normal style. The story involves a pair of Irish sisters, struggling with a debt load and their own identities after their mother’s death. The sisters are estranged, but mom has a caveat that the girls must travel to Ireland to trace their roots. There are flashbacks to a parallel story about a relative who traveled to America alone- told through letters and vignettes. Maeve, “the sensible one” and Therese “the wild one” must come to terms with not only their heritage and each other, but they must also learn to find themselves.
The story is set in lovely Ireland and Savannah- and the dual perspective is a fresh take from Ms. Andrews. Have they been sitting on a hidden treasure and not knowing it? Is there love to be had- even if you’ve given up? Take a Road Trip this summer, you’ll be glad you added this to your TBR list.
I want to thank St. Martin’s Press for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
