Michael Connelly reigns supreme in the second novel of the Catalina series. This time, we find Sergeant Stillwell heading up an operation based on intelligence about a cartel. When things go wrong, Still is benched and looking for answers. Ironwood is a fast-paced tale of bad decisions, questionable characters, and heroic islanders. The ironwood tree is known for its longevity and ability to survive extreme drought. It’s the perfect representation of the excellence that Michael Connelly has displayed throughout his career. Add this to your summer reading list – Stilwell might just become your new favourite slightly unorthodox crime fighter.
