On an empty army base in the middle of the Mohave Desert, Army Rangers are training for an unspecified mission with little success. Upon a soldier’s untimely death, Scott Brodie and Maggie Taylor are dispatched to investigate. Famed author Nelson DeMille and his son create a world of “oh shit” before the elder authors’ passing in 2024. As an enormous fan of Nelson’s work since 1981 with Cathedral, I can truly say that Nelson and Alex authored a masterful story with The Tin Men. It is contemporary, it is engaging and it is an a disturbing premise centered around the timely topics of AI and modern weaponry. I know that Nelson will be watching as this novel tops bestseller lists this fall. May he rest in peace and thank you, Alex, for finishing this novel.
